Pierre Bonnet

I'm researcher at CIRAD (The French agricultural research and international cooperation organization working for the sustainable development of tropical and Mediterranean regions), within the AMAP research unit (botAny and Modeling of Plant Architecture and vegetation). I'm specialised in biodiversity informatics and, more specifically, in developing new methods for digital tools to support biodiversity conservation. As coordinator of the Pl@ntNet citizen science platform since 2009, my research focuses on the production and sharing of data and methods, with the aim of improving our understanding of plant biodiversity and habitat dynamics. By combining machine learning techniques with field data, I seeks to develop innovative approaches to automated plant recognition, species distribution modelling and habitat assessment.
